Written by Steve Mims

Springfield catcher Isaiah Ibarra and second baseman Cooper Mullens have been selected to play in the West Coast League All-Star Game on July 16th in Bellingham.
The two have helped the Drifters to a 12-18 record this season as Springfield looks to contend in the South Division during the second half of the schedule.
Ibarra, a catcher from West Covina, Calif. who will play at USC in the fall, is batting .310 with 10 RBIs and 13 runs scored in 23 games. He is tied for the team lead with five doubles and one triple.

Mullens, a Marist grad who is spending his third summer in Springfield, leads the Drifters with a .321 batting average, 22 runs scored, and 18 RBIs. The Michigan redshirt sophomore has 34 hits and 18 walks in 30 games with the Drifters.

Springfield went 12-15 in the first half to finish sixth in the division. The Drifters are 0-3 in the second half, but head home for nine straight games at Hamlin Sports Complex as they look to move up the standings.

Springfield hosts Yakima Valley Tuesday through Wednesday before the Marion Berries arrive Friday through Sunday. Springfield will host the Dubsea Fishsticks on July 14 before hosting the Cascade Collegiate League on July 15 and 17.

General admission tickets are $8 and reserved box seats are $15 with all games starting at 6:35 p.m., except a 4:05 p.m. start on Sunday.

There are plenty of great family-friendly promotions at the ballpark during the current homestand.

Wednesday is Rapid’s Surprise Birthday Party as 150 fans will receive a cupcake as we celebrate Rapid with some of his best mascot friends. You can get photos and autographs from Rapid throughout the night.

Friday night is Sandlot Movie Night and Eugene Little League Night as ELL players will get in free when wearing a uniform and hat. Teams will be introduced during Opening Ceremonies and The Sandlot will be shown on the field following the game.

Knock Cancer Out of the Park is slated for Saturday when a special-edition cap will be given out to 150 fans. Those hats can also be purchased with half of the profits going to Relay For Life. Cancer survivors will be introduced before the game and Relay For Life will have booths around the ballpark.
