ABOUT THE WCL

Founded in 2005, the West Coast League has set the diamond standard for summer collegiate baseball in the Pacific Northwest. The wood-bat league is designed to develop college baseball players both on and off the field, emphasizing player growth, exposure, and professional preparation.

With 16 teams across Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Alberta, the WCL is committed to enriching its member communities through strong leadership and affordable, family-friendly entertainment.

Each summer, players from top college baseball programs in the United States and Canada showcase their talents in front of passionate fans at intimate ballparks throughout the Pacific Northwest. Featuring a 54-game schedule, the league offers a professional-style environment that mirrors the structure and competition of minor league baseball.

On average, 42 current or former WCL players are selected in the MLB Draft each year. In 2025, 40 league alumni appeared on MLB Opening Day rosters, with 29 competing in the postseason.

Notable alumni include 2020 AL Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber, 2024 AL Pitching Triple Crown winner Tarik Skubal, and first overall picks Adley Rutschman and Travis Bazzana. Five Springfield Drifters alumni have been selected in the MLB Draft, with several others continuing their careers in professional independent baseball.
